Exceptional female jumps rider Rachael Blackmore will switch her priorities to the flat this weekend as has been given a ride in the Irish Derby at the Curragh on board the Emmet Mullins trained King Of The Throne.
Mullins and Blackmore teamed up over the jumps last week at Limerick to record their first win of the season together with Oriental Eagle in the Listed Martin Molony Stakes.
They will now be tackling a different proposition all together with the Group One contest seeing a very smart field of runners heading to post including six runners from Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle yard.
O'Brien will launch a six-strong attack on Saturday's Irish Derby, with Queen's Vase hero Santiago and King Edward VII Stakes runner-up Arthur's Kingdom declared after smart performances at the royal meeting last week.
Also running for the master Irish trainer is Order Of Australia, Iberia, Dawn Patrol and Tiger Moth in a bid to extend his record to 14 wins in the Classic with the race seeing its biggest field since 1977.
Number one rider for Ballydoyle is Seamie Heffernan this season and he will ride 3/1 favourite Santiago where as second in command Wayne Lordan will sit on Arthur's Kingdom.
Joseph O'Brien Is set to have three runners in the contest on Saturday with the dual purpose trainer looking to land the event for the second time after winning the Group One with Latrobe in 2018.
Crossfirehurricane leads the way for the yard having extended his unbeaten record to four races when landing the Group Three Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh last time out.
Galileo Chrome also scored last time out and he goes for the yard alongside Irish 1,000 Guineas fourth New York Girl, who was supplemented at a cost of €50,000 earlier this week.
Ger Lyons, fresh of the back of landing the Irish 2000 Guineas a few weeks back is looking for his second classic of the season with Chiricahua.
Others that make up the race are Sunchart for Andrew Slattery, Fiscal Rules for Jim Bolger, Sherpa for Donnacha O'Brien and the Jessica Harrington trained Gold Maze rounds off the entries.
