The Breeders Cup two day festival is just around the corner and is set to be another wet affair like there Kentucky Derby meeting earlier in the year where the conditions that day were torrential, however this weekend the down pour is not set to be as bad with the conditions brightening up all the time.
The rain has been pouring at Churchill Downs since Saturday with the weather in Louisville on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday having blustery but calmer conditions with the worst day of the lot scheduled for today.
Thunderstorms were forecast for all of today and Thursday, with rainfall expected frequently over the next two days. There has been a prediction by weather experts that over the coming days there is expected to be more than three inches of rain to fall over the course.
However, on the actual race days of Friday and Saturday the deluge should have cleared up and the big days are supposed to be mostly dry. Friday is looking like it will be the worst of the two days with more cloud than sun but Saturday has the promise of being a better day and that is not just for the weather.
When jockeys raced over the track at Churchill Downs on Sunday they reported the surface to be Good, with it being slightly on the slow side of what it normally is. Even though there will be a downfall over the next couple of days, it is almost certain that there will not be a repeat of the weather that marred Derby day here in May and some of the best racing on earth could have the best conditions possible if all going well.
