Whilst we had Rishi Persad in the hot seat on Monday after a brilliant days racing at the home of the King George VI Stakes, we thought we would ask him some probing questions about the big upcoming meetings and his horses to follow for the season.
The next big meetings are this weekend with a spectacle of jumps racing set to take over the weekend with the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle which we will be covering live on Instagram this weekend and also the Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy that was previously named the Hennessey Gold Cup.
Samcro, Summerville Boy and dual Cheltenham Champion Hurdle winner Buveur D'Air are all set to do battle at Gosforth park in one of the best hurdle contests of the season so far.
The Ladbrokes Trophy is set to be a great renewal of the race with some top class chasers from Britain and an attractive amount of horses coming from Ireland to try and take the crown.
With the King George previously being discussed we moved on to talking about the Cheltenham festival and Rishi Persad's horses to follow in the run up to the festival.
He gave us one hurdler and one chaser to follow this season with both of them being selected for different reasons. Verdana Blue is his hurdler to follow and she has already won a Listed and a Grade 2 contest this season and looks to be a really smart hurdler that will definitely go to Cheltenham for trainer Nicky Henderson.
His chaser to follow was built upon how good the trainer of this horse is and what he has previous to his injury lay off last season and that is Sizing John. Persad believes he can go on to take the Gold Cup again this year in the same Style Kauto Star did and the coincidence of it is that it will be 10 years since he did that.
