Shishkin Slashed For Arkle After Faultless Chase Debut

Shishkin

Nicky Henderson's Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Shiskin made his debut over fences at Kempton on Monday and gave an effortless round of jumping to land the Beginners event by over 20 lengths and straight away the bookmakers have slashed his price of 7/2 into 2/1.

The six year old since falling on his hurdles debut has shown bundles of ability and plenty of gears when it comes to finishing his races which have seen him land three contests in a row at Newbury, Huntingdon and of course Prestbury Park.

His win in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle has since been franked with the narrow second Abacadbras for Gordon Elliott has since gone on to land the Grade One Morgiana Hurdle, with third Chantry House and fourth Asterion Forlonge both going on to win on chase debut.

Shishkin could not be upstaged and on Monday showed the racing world just how good he is by pinging every fence and showing the turn of foot of last term, when just being nudged by Nico De Boinville and going away from the second placed Mick Pastor with ease.

(Credit Racing Post) An over the moon Nicky Henderson said: "I think you've got to give him praise and I thought it was ten out of ten. He's got loads of scope and was showing off a bit at times, but quickly worked out the last when a stride wasn't there – he can do it both ways.

"It was a good school for him. It's a good course to come to first time as there are no traps – Kempton is a lovely place to start them off.

"He's always looked a natural schooling. He was just very good from day one. He's a natural two-miler with a lot of pace and lot of quality – he's just a lovely horse.

"I suspect we'll come back here over Christmas for the Wayward Lad."
