Salisbury will not host a better card all season and to kick us off on ITV they have the Class 2 Conditions Stakes with just four runners.

The second favourite Lord Tennyson has a huge chance to get back to his best in this small fielded affair having been poor on his last two outings.

Before those bad runs he started this term in fine style winning at Chelmsford in a novice event and then finishing a good second at Newmarket behind in Marie's Diamond in a Listed event.

Anything reproducing that form could see him go well.

With no bet in the first race of the day at Thirsk we go straight back to Salisbury for the Class 2 Pam Bruford Memorial Handicap and Konchek for Clive Cox should go well.

The four year old has placed in his last three events, finishing third in a Class 3 at Windsor and then finishing a good second at Sandown in another decent handicap.

Again last time out he was third at Ascot behind todays favourite Tone The Barone, but now getting more weight off him he can reverse the form.

David O'Meara is a trainer bang in form and his runner Muscika has a big chance in the final race on the ITV broadcast from Thirsk.

The six furlong event sees an interesting field come together but this six year old seems to keep improving winning nicely last time out at York.

He has now shot up to a fairly high mark but has previously produced strong runs in these type of handicaps and being a course and distance winner should see him give another bold showing.

The Class 3 Handicap sees a small fielded event for the Fillies' and Indie Angel for John Gosden and Cheveley Park seems to have gone under the radar.

The three year old has raced four times this year and has not finished outside the top three, racing in Class 2 and 3 events.

She got off the mark for the season at Newmarket two starts ago when beating a decent field of eight and last time out finished third in a good handicap.

She is getting a fair bit of weight off the top two in the market and if she can exploit that then she will be in the mix.

The feature race of the day is the Group One Keeneland Phoenix State and we believe this seasons renewal will be going to the British raider The Lir Jet.

The two year old bounced onto the racing scene this season when breaking the track record at Yarmouth in a five furlong event.

He was then entered into the Group Two Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, having just been bought by Qatar Racing and he went on to land the contest, just pipping American raider Golden Pal on the line.

He was last seen on Sunday at Chantilly in the small fielded six-furlong Prix Robert Papin and although suffering his first defeat of his career, he only went down by a short head to the Richard Hannon trained Ventura Tormenta.

We believe he can reverse that form line and he should be in the frame.

The big race at Salisbury on the day is the Group Three Sovereign Stakes and the Clive Cox trained Positive should be a class above with the company he has been keeping recently.

The three year old gets a nice bit of weight off the top two in the market but this season has ran to a fair standard in much better races than this.

He was fourth behind Palace Pier, Pinatubo and Wichita in the St James's Palace Stakes and then went on to finish midfield in another Group One in France.

As a juvenile he landed the Group Three Solario Stakes seeing off the 2000 Guineas winner Kameko and this race looks more manageable.

The other big race on the Curragh card is the Group Three Phoenix Sprint Stakes and the filly getting weight that makes appeal is Millisle for Jessica Harrington.

This three year old as a juvenile was a superstar winning at the Curragh over five furlongs then stepping up to six furlongs for the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes and landing the race in good style.

As a three year old she has taken time to get back to the same level with poor runs in good company but last time out in a Group Three at Naas she got back to her best to land the Ballyogan Stakes and if improving again should go close in this similar event.
