The Sussex Stakes takes centre stage at Glorious Goodwood today and we have looked back at one of the closest renewals of the Group One contest for some time.
Last year's race saw some of the hottest mile horses in the sport take on each other and with many of the different colts and geldings getting the better of one another throughout the season it was very hard from a punting perspective.
At the two furlong pole it looked as though the Aidan O'Brien trained Circus Maximus was going to land another Group One during the season.
However, Frankie Dettori found some room on Too Darn Hot to reverse the form with the St James's Palace winner and take his first black type event as a three year old in Britain.
