The first race of the day at Kempton sees the Novices' Hurdle over two miles and we are giving another chance to Broomfield Burg who drops back into this company from a handicap.

The five year old was a £90,000 purchase for JP McManus off the back of winning a three mile point to point by four lengths in October 2020.

Having needed his rules debut in a bumper at Newbury in January, he was then seen again in May when bolting up by close to nine lengths.

Stepped over to hurdles shortly after that he made it back to back successes at Warwick, when taking out a Novices' hurdle by close to 10 lengths.

Sent back to Newbury last time out he could only manage second behind a nice type for Paul Nicholls, with horse who finished behind stablemate Jonbon next time out back in third.

Looking to make the most of his handicap mark of 130 last time out at Cheltenham he was well backed but could not pass the hardy Lively Citizen and had to settle for second.

This flatter track should suit him better and he looks an obvious candidate.

A very competitive event on the Kempton is the Class 3 Handicap Chase over 2m 4 1/2f and we are siding with the Paul Nicholls trained Danny Kirwan.

The eight year old looks to be very well handicapped off a mark of 133 coming into this event, having been a fair hurdler and looked to take to chasing well in October.

On his final start last term the gelding landed the second victory of his career over hurdles when taking out a Novices' Hurdle at Wincanton over 2m5f.

Switched to the bigger obstacles this term he was seen getting better and better the further the race went on and ultimately he finished a three lengths second to a next time out winner in Annual Invictus.

Not raised by the handicapper for that win he looks to have a big chance here at the weights, especially having won at the track before and now having his second run after a wind op, he should improve.

Big player.

A horse running at Down Royal on Sunday that is very much worth taking notice of is the Stuart Crawford trained O'Toole.

The five year old son of Mahler was seen twice in bumpers last season, winning well on debut at Fairyhouse in February when bolting up by 15 lengths.

He was then last seen stepping up in Grade One company for the Champion INH Flat Race at the Punchestown festival and finished a good second behind the smart Kilcruit.

The Stuart Crawford trained gelding looks a smart animal off the back of that run, beating home Cheltenham bumper winner Sir Gerhard.

Making his debut over 2m1f he may need further in the future but is certainly a horse to keep an eye on.

A very exciting star for Gordon Elliott and owner Robcour is Gerri Colombe who is unbeaten in all three of his starts to date and he looks to have that star quality you only see in a handful of horses.

Making the first start of his career in a point to point at Lingstown over three miles he went on to win by a head and he was then bought for £240,000 and given to the Cullentra handler.

In January of this year he made his rules debut in a bumper over two miles at Fairyhouse and in extremely taking style he took the contest by 24 lengths.

Seeming to have a monster on their hands, they gave him one more run on the level and he was an easy winner once more.

Making his hurdles debut in the first at Down Royal over 2m4f, he is very much worth watching.

The final horse to keep an eye on is the Dan Skelton trained Unexpected Party who was a big eye-catcher last time out at Cheltenham and has a big chance of going one better on Sunday.

The €155,000 purchase started life over hurdles in September by finishing a good second at Southwell and off the back of that was a fair fourth.

He then stepped up in trip at Wetherby next time out and was an emphatic winner, which suggested the 2m5f was his trip going forward.

Up in the weights for the Cheltenham event he ran a superb race to stay on into second and in now what looks an easier affair at Wetherby he is worth putting in the tracker.
