The first tracker horse to follow this weekend is the Kevin Ryan trained King Of York who makes his handicap debut at Ayr in the Class 3 event over a mile.

The two year old son of Kingman was a 350,000gns purchase as a yearling for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum and he has given the impression that now handicapping he can be ultra competitive.

Starting his career at Haydock over seven furlongs he was fourth of 10 in a decent race behind the talented Albahr and then backed that over the same C&D when a better third again behind two nice types.

The colt thought he had got off the mark last time out at Carlisle stepping up to mile only losing the race in the stewards room.

Now handicapping it looks as though he can be a big player and off a mark of 80 his pedigree suggests he should be better.

In the first race of the day at Newbury the Roger Varian trained Dubai Poet is making his second start and looks to be a big improver.

The 140,000gns Lope De Vega colt made an impressive debut over course and distance back in August in a decent race and will certainly improve for that outing.

This looks a very winnable race and with the yard going well he looks a horse to keep on side.

Weight: 9-10

The final runner this weekend that is of some interest of us is the John & Thady Gosden trained King Leonidas, who makes his handicap debut after close to 15 months off the track.

The 750,000gns purchase as a yearling has been seen three times to date, once as a juvenile when getting off the mark in a nice event at Newmarket and then twice last term.

Being a son of Kingman a lot was expected of him as three year old but he was only seen twice due to injury, seeing off Eastern World in a Novice Stakes event over a mile and then he was last seen in the Group Three Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Molatham in June 2020.

Back form a lengthy time off the track he drops into this handicap event for the first time and if living up his group expectations, he could be interesting in this sphere.

Very interesting runner that should be kept on an eye on if still holding the ability of old.
