Today we are looking back at the 2016 Epsom Derby with the late great Pat Smullen sitting aboard Harzand to land the Classic event in fine style.
Although it was not the strongest renewal of the race, winning a Derby is one of the pinnacle titles to land in flat racing and Harzand gave that opportunity to Smullen.
The Aga Khan owned three year old was 13/2 to land the Group One, with the strong favourite US Army Ranger for Aidan O'Brien only being able to manage second.
The victory in 2016 also gave Dermot Weld his first win in the race having been a superbly prominent trainer in Ireland for many years and also landing some special races in England.
However, the three year old will always go down in the history books for landing this event and today we are taking a look back.
Enjoy!
