One of the star races of the upcoming weekend is the Grade One Tingle Creek Chase for the best two milers in the division and over the week we will be looking back at some of the stand out renewals.
Today we are looking back at the 2018 renewal of the race where the superstar Altior took the spoils for the first time and he will be looking to do the same on Saturday.
The Nicky Henderson trained superstar has been the poster boy for British national hunt racing winning 21 of his 24 races under rules in his career, only ever being beaten once over fences and never over hurdles.
Last year the star was tried over a staying trip in the 1965 Christy Chase and suffered his first defeat against Cyrname, but that race showed that two miles is his game and when racing over obstacles at that trip he is unbeaten throughout his career.
When landing this event in 2018 he took on three other decent runners that included Grade One winner Un De Sceaux, Frequent Grade Two winner Sceau Royal and the Promising Saint Calvados.
In soft conditions he swept them a side with ease, with jockey Nico De Boinville giving a flick down the neck and he readily went on to take another black type event.
