The Ascot Chase on Saturday is the feature race of the week with the Grade One event and we have taken a look back at the 2017 contest which saw one of its favourite winners of the race.
Cue Card for Colin Tizzard headed to Ascot in 2017 looking to add another superb Grade One race to his growing roster and he did so, giving us a superb spectacle.
The gelding also landed the event in 2013 and then four years later came back to the scene of his win and was even more impressive.
In 2018 he headed back to the Berkshire track looking for a third win in the contest and was just seen off by the Ruth Jefferson trained Waiting Patiently.
Cue Card was a horse of a lifetime for his connections and handler and retired in 2018 having been a Cheltenham festival winner and also one of the most renowned staying chaser in the sport, having also landed the King George VI Chase.
