This weekend sees one of the richest races in the world with the 2021 Dubai World cup for Meydan and today we are looking back at the 2019 renewal, as last year's race was abandoned due to the ongoing crisis in the world.
Last year Thunder Snow for Saeed bin Suroor became the first horse to land back to back renewals of the race that sees a purse of $12,000000.
The Godolphin owned seven year old took the event in 2018 and then ran five times in-between the next renewal and only again won a race when taking his second Dubai World Cup.
He has a special relationship with Meydan and in last year's resumption of the great race it saw a superb spectacle, only just getting the job done on the line.
He is not going for the event this season, which leaves the door wide open for a new champion.
