This week sees Ayr host their best meeting of the season with the feature race being the Scottish Champion Hurdle and today we are looking back at a one of the better renewals over recent years.
With no renewal of the race last year due to the current crisis in the world, the last winner of the event came in 2019 with Nicky Henderson's Verdana Blue stealing the shown.
The nine year old mare has been a superb horse for the yard taking this race with ease, whilst also running credibly in Grade Ones over the years.
She has gone on to take races like the Grade One Christmas Hurdle and Grade Two Elite Hurdle at Wincanton, whilst also placing in races like the Ascot stakes and Ebor Handicap on the flat.
Her win the Scottish Champion Hurdle two years ago was one of her most dominant displays during her career and it is worth watching back.
