It is King George VI Chase week and across the next few days we will be looking back at some of the best renewals of the race in recent times, starting today with the 2018 resumption.
Clan Des Obeaux was the horse that landed the Grade One in 2018 for the master trainer Paul Nicholls who has a superb record in the race.
Taking on nine other runners the eight year old saw off 2016 winner Thistlecrack in the final stages of the race to land his first black type event over fences.
Clan Des Obeaux also on the day saw off 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River, Champion Chase winner Politologue and four time Grade One winner Might Bite.
The gelding at odds of 12/1 went on to land the race in good style in the final stages and then in 2019 came back and landed the race again for the second time in consecutive years.
