Today we are looking back at last year's renewal of the Cotswold Chase with the superstar Native River landing the event in taking style at the age of 11 years old.
Native River has been a superb yardstick for the Tizzard's over the years taking out numerous big events over the years including the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Welsh Grand National, Many Clouds Chase, Mildmay Chase, Denman Chase and this event last year.
With the race normally staged at Cheltenham, but was moved to Sandown due to the meeting being abandoned, still getting his beloved soft ground, Native River saw off some high class individuals to take the Grade Two.
A race he was winning for the first time in his career at the age of 11, he managed to out battle the likes of Bristol De Mai, Santini and Yala Enki with ease.
Having not won since then the Tizzard's and owners Brocade Racing have since decided to retire him and today is all about honouring the career of this great horse.
