Today we are looking back at last year's renewal of the 1000 Guineas ahead of the 2022 race on Sunday and it saw a special performance by an Aidan O'Brien trained filly.
Empress Josephine for the Coolmore operation was a smart filly last term that made a superb debut at Naas in a 19 runner maiden, but then took her next two runs to learn that she needs cut in the ground to be successful.
The rain came for her on Irish 1000 Guineas day with the ground turning heavy and in the final stages of the race she managed to get up under Seamie Heffernan to take the spoils.
Not seen winning since that Classic event she always be remembered for this race and we are taking a look back at her performance today.
Enjoy!
