Today we are looking back at the 2020 Coronation Cup that was rerouted over to Newmarket last season, but all the same showed off a superb spectacle with superstar Ghaiyyath taken home the Group One event.
Over the years the black type event has seen some special winners, but there may never be a more dominant display from the front than last years performance.
Ghaiyyath started off last season when winning a Group Three in Meydan and then off the back of that went to Newmarket and took the Coronation Cup easily, seeing off Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck and superstar stayer Stradivarius.
That kickstarted a superb time of things in England throughout the season, going onto win the Coral Eclipse beating Enable, Juddmonte International seeing off Enable and then last time he was ever seen on a racecourse he finished a narrow second in the Irish Champion Stakes.
The Godolphin ace was the horse of the season last year and his win in the Coronation Cup is what started that all off.
