The 2016 renewal of the Oaks was the last time we saw an Irish trained horse win the race which is remarkable and of course it came from the Ballydoyle Maestro himself.
Aidan O'Brien does not train bad horses and Seventh Heaven, a daughter of Galileo turned out to be another bright spark for the yard at the time by emerging as the winner for the Irish Oaks.
Having shown very little quality in her previous runs including a weak sixth of nine in the Epsom Oaks before her Group One win, she managed to conjure up a stand out run to land the event going away.
2016 was the last time O'Brien landed the event but this year he looks sure to go close once more with a star studded line up heading to post.
