Today's throwback race of the day looks back at the 2021 Champion Hurdle with the winner Epatante looking to land back to back renewals this season, but it looks an extremely tough task.
Epatante has been the leading light for the British in the Champion Hurdle for the last two years, having cruised to victory last term, but with the likes of Honeysuckle and Goshen in the race this year it looks a mich tougher task for her to retain it.
On her way to winning the Prestigious Grade One last season she landed the Grade One Christmas Hurdle at Kempton and this season she went back to Kempton in search of another big race win but had to settle for second behind Silver Streak.
Her run was extremely below par and she must bounce back to her best to be involved in just under two weeks, with the Champion Hurdle now looking like one of the contests of the meeting.
Epatante was the leading mare in the race last year, but now being set to take on Honeysuckle makes her unusually not the best horse on ratings.
