This weekend sees some quality racing in France with the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois set to steal the show and we have looked back at last year's renewal of the race.
The superstar Palace Pier for John Gosden is arguably the the best miler in the division at the moment and looks set to take on Poetic Flare this weekend looking to retain his title.
In 2020 the John & Thady Gosden headed into the French Group One looking to make it five wins in a row and with heavy ground turning up, it looked as though he was going to be up against it.
However, he went on to emphatically land the event from the filly Alpine Star, also seeing Circus Maximus by five lengths back in third for the same connections.
Having landed the St James' Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot before his win in this race, he then went on to suffer his first lose of his career when losing a shoe in the QEII on British Champions Day.
Since then he has gone unbeaten in three events, landing the Group One Lockinge Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot and after recovering from a blood disorder, he should lay down the gauntlet for the field on Sunday.
