Today we are taking a look back to the 2020 renewal of the Betfair Chase where the superstar grey Bristol De Mai for Nigel Twiston-Davies went on to land his third renewal of the Grade One.
The now 10 year old treats the Betfair Chase as his Gold Cup every year, with the ground usually heavy and he thrives in those conditions, jumping the fences well and staying out the trip better than most.
Having lost his crown in 2019 with Lostintranslation taking out the race, he put in a determined performance last term to take out the race for a third time.
Having his first run since finishing ninth in the 2019 Gold Cup at the Cheltenham festival, he went from the front, pinging his fences and was not for catching in the deep ground, seeing off dual King George VI Chase winner Clan Des Obeaux.
