Today we are looking back at the latest winner of the bet365 Mile with the Group Two event set to take place on Friday and in 2019 it saw a popular winner with Beat The Bank.
The Andrew Balding trained gelding had a superb career for the yard taking out this event, whilst also landing events like the Group Two Celebration Mile at Goodwood and The Group Two Summer Mile at Ascot on two occasions.
Sadly after his last win as a five year old in the Summer Mile at Ascot in July 2019, he went wrong after the race and sadly last his life.
We are looking back today at his victory in the Sandown event because the race is on Friday, but also cherish his career having been a superb horse over a mile.
The quicker the ground the better it was for this horse and he would have been sure to be involved in this event if still in the sport.
