Today we are looking back at the 2020 Ladbrokes Trophy with the Newbury feature set to go ahead on Saturday and in honour of the race we are delving into Cloth Cap's win.
Cloth Cap for the late great Trevor Hemmings loved the good ground at Newbury last year and romped to victory by 10 lengths, ultimately being a very well handicapped horse.
Racing behind Frodon at Cheltenham in the October into third, he then used that run as preparation for Newbury where he dominated the 18 strong field.
Off the back of that he won at Kelso before going off favourite for the Aintree Grand National but he was unfortunately pulled up, not jumping to his usual standards.
