The Cotswold Chase On Saturday always gives us a better picture as to what the British challenge for the Gold Cup will look like and in 2019 it saw a superb renewal.
The Cheltenham specialist Frodon landed the Grade Two contest two years ago, going to the front from the outset of the race and finding a superb Rhythm under Bryony Frost, like the pair normally do.
After that race he went on to land the Ryanair Chase at the festival, but this season is being given a chance to land the Gold Cup, with his best efforts coming over a staying trip.
The quirky gelding this season has been a winner of a tough handicap off top weight at Cheltenham and last time out went on to land the King George VI Chase at Kempton.
Many special winners of this race have also gone on and landed some huge races and it could be the same for the runners who head to post this term.
