An interesting Beginners' Chase kicks off the card at Thurles on Thursday. Mistergif showed plenty of promise over hurdles last season for the Willie Mullins team.

He will have Paul Townend aboard for his first start over fences today. Mistergif took high order in novice hurdles last season, including when fifth in the G1 Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Followed that up with a fourth in the G1 Top Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in April. Ended the season with a fine second at Punchestown at the start of May. Should take a high rank in novice chases this season.

It has been nearly two years since Appreciate It last got his nose in front when it mattered most. However, today could be the perfect opportunity to score over fences.

The Willie Mullins-trained runner is the preference of Paul Townend, and holds a healthy advantage over the competition in terms of ratings.

Ended last season with some strong efforts, including when fifth in the G1 Punchestown Gold Cup.

His best run last season came on his return when narrowly denied by Fastorslow in the G1 John Durkan Memorial Chase. If at that level, he looks very hard to overlook today.
