The late, great Roaring Lion is the focus of todays Thursday Throwback segment and continuing with the York theme we are looking back at the 2018 Juddmonte International.
Having already landed the Dante on the Knavesmire, the then three year old was sure to relish the conditions of the track and heading into the race off the back of winning the Coral Eclipse he was the 8/11 favourite.
He renewed his rivalry with 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior but once again prevailed to land the black type race and off the back of that went on to land two more Group One events.
He went to Leopardstown for the Irish Champion Stakes and again saw off a superb challenge from Saxon Warrior and to top the season off he stepped down to a mile for the QEII on British Champions Day and again got up late in the day to land four Group Ones in a row.
