Trainer Michael Scudamore on Wednesday is looking to have a winner on the all weather at Newcastle with their extra bumper based card, sending just one runner to the northern based track on the day, which sees the handler make a 510 mile round trip.
When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.
Scudamore fields the six year old mare Karlie in the 2m event on the tapeta at Newcastle and she looks to have a superb chance.
The mare has only beens seen four times in her career, twice in point to points where she got off the mark at the second time of asking and twice over rules.
She made her bumper debut at Taunton in October and landed a 12 runner mares' event in good style, but last time out was stepped up to a Listed event at Huntingdon and could only finish fifth of 13.
She will certainly improve for that experience and today she drops back in class to a much easier race and she should be able to go close.
Scudamore has a superb record when travelling this far with his horses, running at a 29% strike rate for his career having 40 winners from 140 travelling horses.
