On Sunday, trainer David O’Meara will be bidding to have a winner down at Goodwood, sending just the one runner on a 514 mile round trip down to the West Sussex venue.
Whenever we see any yard travel a fair way with one of their runners we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be travelling all that distance if they did not believe they have a real chance of collecting some prize money along the way.
The horse in question today is four-year-old gelding Arranmore, who despite already being a three-time winner this term has been unfortunate not to have more success on his CV having rattled the crossbar on a number of recent runs lately.
Although failing to get his head in front since winning off 7lbs lower back in August at Carlisle, he proved this current handicap figure to be far from beyond him when filling the runner-up spot off marks of 79 & 81 on three separate occasions subsequently.
With his mark unchanged for his return this afternoon and with the forecasted drying ground likely to pose no concerns he looks sure to give another good account of himself at a fair each-way price.
