On Thursday, trainer David O’Meara is looking to have a winner on this evenings card at Epsom Downs, sending just the one runner on the 444 mile round trip from his yard up in York all the way down to the Surrey-based venue.
Whenever we see a yard travel a fair distance, particularly with just one horse, we like to highlight it as we believe they would not be travelling all that way if they did not believe they had a live chance of picking up prize money along the way.
The in-form handler has enjoyed a great time of things at the track this season, having brought up two winners and three places from just 10 runners, therefore at the very least this runner bears close watching in the betting.
The horse in question is MYTHICAL MADNESS, who finally struck gold after a luckless time of things when scoring over C&D last week, making up a fair amount of ground on that occasion from an unpromising position to eventually win a shade cosily in the end.
Albeit 2lbs wrong at the weights, this veteran remains well treated on the pick of some of his best form and despite conceding weight all around here in what appears a decidedly weak contest he looks to hold every chance of following up with his rider that day Sean Kirrane retaining the ride.
