On Friday, a training duo are looking to have a winner at Musselburgh, sending just one runner on the journey up North, which sees the handler make a 700 mile round trip.
When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.
The trainers in question are Simon and Ed Crisford who run Roulston Scar, a son of Lope De Vega, in the 15:00 conditions race, becoming just their third ever runner at the track in the last 5 years; they boast a highly impressive 29% strike rate with horses travelling at least 350 miles or further.
Roulston Scar is on a hat-trick bid after landing small fielded conditions races the last twice at Leicester and Chelmsford by 2.75 lengths+ margins, latterly a class 2 affair in which, according to RPR's, he ran an all time best.
He's up just 2lbs for that win and drops back down into a class 3; the training duo look sure to have been precise about finding the right race for him to continue his upwards trend and will be hopeful that they have found their runner the perfect race in order to land that third straight win on the bounce.
