This weekend sees nine meetings offering both flat and jumps racing across the day and at Haydock the feature race of the afternoon is the Grade Three Swinton Handicap and we have a strong selection for the event.
The six year old is nicely weighted in the field and if none the worse for his fall last time out when travelling well, he looks to be the pick of the field at 5/1.
Having ran in one bumper on the all weather in 2019, he stepped over hurdles this term and has been superb in all of his runs.
He made his seasonal debut at Perth in September and finished a good second behind Stoner's Choice for Fergal O'Brien who has franked the form on numerous occasions this term.
Copperless then went unbeaten on both his next two runs, landing a maiden hurdle over this trip at Market Rasen and then going to Taunton in March and doing the same.
Those two runs primed him for a big run at Aintree's Grand National meeting in the Amateur Riders' Handicap Hurdle and coming to the second last Olly Murphy's horse was travelling best of all.
However, he came crashing down and looked to take a nasty fall, but fortunately got up in the end and has only gone up 3lb in the handicap for his effort.
That sees him still on a very workable mark and the way he was travelling last time out makes him interesting once again at a decent price.
