A competitive race is set for 13:50, with a field of seven running over a distance of an extended two miles and three. Welsh Charger could be the most interesting betting angle. The six-year-old represents the Alastair Ralph yard, with the trainer currently operating at a 50% strike rate from his last six runners.
David Noonan takes the ride on Friday. Welsh Charger was last seen finishing ninth of eleven over two miles and five at Kempton, but has shown some eye-catching form to keep in mind now back over hurdles. The six-year-old is 4-8 over obstacles, which includes two victories last season.
Among those was a success on testing ground at Musselbrough when finishing two lengths clear of Lihyan over two miles and four. Trip is no concern, and looks a major player despite being toward the top of the weights.
