Tim Easterby's stable star Winter Power is all systems go for the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes at York's Ebor meeting next week, with the Yorkshire based handler bullish about her chances.
Winter Power has been a superstar for the yard over the last few seasons, really coming to life at the back end of last term when landing a quick-fire double at Ayr on Newmarket.
She picked up from where she left off this term on her seasonal debut when bolting up in the Listed Westow Stakes over 5f at York.
Thrown straight into the deep end next time out she was did too much early on in the Group One King's Stands Stakes and ultimately faded late on.
Looking to bounce back to form she headed back to York over the Nunthorpe course and distance in the Listed City Walls takes and again gave a dominant performance to win well.
Five furlongs at York seems to be her playground and now a current 6/1 shot for the Group One event, her handler has every hope she can go close.
(Credit ATR) Easterby said: “She is proven over the five furlongs and that’s why she’s going. It’s been the aim all year. She is in great form.
“This (meeting) is our goal for every horse that we have, really. Everybody up here that owns horses in the north wants to go to York’s August meeting. It’s like the southern lads going to Goodwood or the Newmarket July meeting.”
