Clive Cox is wonderful flat trainer and has some special horses in his time but this year has broke his high standard of winners for a season by registering his highest tally to date.
The Lambourn based trainer, with still producing runners in the all weather on the off season, has gone past his previous marker of 65 which he landed last week but he isn't stopping there and is ready for the 2019 season to come.
Clive Cox's most notable horse of the last few years has been Harry Angel who won multiple Group 1 races but has now gone to become a stud. Even with the loss of this stable star cox thinks he has the ammunition to have another record breaking season.
(Credit At The Races) Cox said:“We’ve had a good year. Numerically we’re better.
“It would have been nice to have won a Group One with Harry (Angel), but it was very good winning the Duke of York and finishing off with a really creditable second in the Group One Champions Sprint (at Ascot).
“It’s been a good year and we’ve got some nice young horses to look forward to.
“We finished off well in France with a Listed and Group Three success as well in the autumn, which was very good and hopefully there’s many more to look forward to.”
One of the trainers star performing horses of the season as Snazzy Jazzy who picked some really smart victories for cox at the back end of the season when winning the Ayr Silver Cup and a Grade 3 in France at Maisons Laffitte.
Cox added: “Snazzy Jazzy won a Group Three in Maisons-Laffitte at the end of the year. He’s been a great prize-money earner after winning the Ayr Silver Cup and going on to better things.
“I hope he can continue to progress. He’s made a huge step forward this year and that is a nice benchmark.”
