This runner by runner guide will display all 19 runners set to go to post in the richest turf race on earth. The prestigious race is held in France, Paris at the famous Longchamp racecourse where last years Cartier Horse Of The Year and winner of the race Enable is currently the 11/10 favourite.
Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
Number 1 - Defoe - 50/1
Trainer - Roger Varian
Jockey - Andrea Atzeni
Group 1s - None
This four year old has been a consistent horse as a three and four year old in lesser races like Listed, Group 3 and 2 company and since being stepped up to Group 1 races is 0-3 and hasn't looked like winning. Needs a big step up if he is to feature on Sunday but is out of Arc winner Dalkhani.
Number 2 - Salouen - 100/1
Trainer - Sylvester Kirk
Jockey - Oisin Murphy
Group 1s - None
This four year old hasn't won since he was a two year old but has had some brilliant runs in his career behind some class horses in Group 1 company. His latest was when a narrow second to Cracksman in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, if repeating that he could be a shock feature in the placings but might find some a bit to good.
Number 3 - Capri - 33/1
Trainer - Aidan O'Brien
Jockey - Donnacha O'Brien
Group 1s - Irish Derby, St Leger
Hasn't featured much this season due to injury but has a victory at Naas and then latest when coming back again was a lacklustre fifth behind some of Sunday's runners. Peak three year old form will see him in the placings and has the potential to be there but if being nothing like that he won't feature.
Number 4 - Way To Paris - 150/1
Trainer - Antonio Marcialis
Jockey - Gerald Mosse
Group 1s - None
This five year old is at these odds for a reason and it would be one of the biggest shocks in the Arc's history if Way To Paris went on to win. Has not won above listed level and latest run over course and distance was not appealing.
Number 5 - Waldgeist - 7/1
Trainer - Andre Fabre
Jockey - Pierre-Charles Boudot
Group 1s - Criterium de Saint-Cloud, Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud
This four year old is hitting the peak of his form at the right time, he is unbeaten in her last four races and his latest includes the Group 2 prix Foy which set the bench mark for the Arc. At 7/1 he is the where the each way money lies but it wouldn't be a surprise if this son of Galileo went further than that.
Number 6 - Cloth Of Stars - 33/1
Trainer - Andre Fabre
Jockey - Vincent Cheminaud
Group 1s - Prix Ganay
This is another of Andre Fabre's strong french team and last year this horse finished a remarkable second to Enable in this race. Not been the same horse this season and is easily opposable but if recreating last years run will be nice for each way claims.
Number 7 - Talismanic - 25/1
Trainer - Andre Fabre
Jockey - Mickael Barzalona
Group 1s - Breeders' Cup Turf
This high class horse is the third on show for leading french trainer Andre Fabre and has some really smart runs to his name in Group 1 company. Howvever on his latest start was brushed a side easily by his stablemate Waldgeist and on that performance will struggle to be in the frame on Sunday, but does have a lot of ability.
Number 8 - Tiberian - 100/1
Trainer - Alan Couetil
Jockey - William Buick
Group 1s - None
This five year old has been brilliant for his connections over time but Sunday won't be a happy day for the camp as it is very unlikely he will feature. Unplaced in all five of his previous Group 1 races see's the big odds on display.
Number 9 - Clincher - 66/1
Trainer - Hirashi Miyamoto
Jockey - Yutaka Take
Group 1s - None
The only runner in the field not from Europe and he is a classy horse from Japan that performs well at 2 miles. Was poor last time out in the Prix Foy when way behind Waldgeist and if performing the same will be nowhere near the leaders on the day.
Number 10 - Enable - 11/10
Trainer - John Gosden
Jockey - Frankie Dettori
Group 1s - Oaks, Irish Oaks, King George, Yorkshire Oaks, Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe
The three year old Cartier Horse Of the Year and the outstanding winner of this race last year is looking to do the double and there is no reason why she can't. She will go off a heavy favourite at maybe odds on and off the back of her seasonal debut at kempton smashing Crystal Ocean by five lengths and only being 80 percent fit she could be frightening on Sunday. The horse to beat.
Number 11 - Neufbosc - 50/1
Trainer - Mme Pia Brandt
Jockey - Cristian Demuro
Group 1s - None
This smart three year old and one of the very few running in this years Arc is Neufbosc. He is a really consistent colt who has featured well in Group 3, 2 and 1s this season and his best performance was behind Kew Gardens in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris, anything replicating that performance wouldn't see him to far away from the pack.
Number 12 - Patascoy - 50/1
Trainer - Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte
Jockey - Oliver Peslier
Group 1s - None
In cracking form in France this year in Group 1 and 2 races getting some valuable places but never quite having enough to finish the job. Career best form was in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly in June and if finding that form again can go be in the mix.
Number 13 - kew Gardens - 10/1
Trainer - Aidan O'Brien
Jockey - Ryan Moore
Group 1s - Grand Prix de Paris, St Leger
This horse has now got his act together and really found his level at this distance winning two Group 1s, the latest in remarkable fashion at Doncaster in the St Leger. If running the same and handling the ground at Longchamp he has to the pick of the each way shouts on that form and O'Brien's best chance of a winner.
Number 14 - Study Of Man - 33/1
Trainer - Pascal Bary
Jockey - Stephane Pasquier
Group 1s - Prix du Jockey
This horse has been hit and miss since his Group 1 Prix du Jockey win with some not so good performances. Could bounce back at Longchamp with conditions to suit but needs vast improvement from previous runs and even his Group 1 win to see him feature on Sunday.
Number 15 - Louis D'or - 200/1
Trainer - Tony Castanheira
Jockey - Antoine Hamelin
Group 1s - None
This three year old is the least fancied horse in the field having only won one of his 13 runs to date making him easily opposable in this class of race.
Number 16 - Hunting Horn - 66/1
Trainer - Aidan O'Brien
Jockey - Seamie Heffernan
Group 1s - None
Another Irish Raider for Aidan O'Brien See's Hunting Horn go to post and he has ran credibly in group races this season but unfortunately isn't in the same calibre of class as some of these runners and looks hard to fancy even in each way betting.
Number 17 - Nelson - 150/1
Trainer - Aidan O'Brien
Jockey - Michael Hussey
Group 1s - None
Another of the O'Brien horses in the big one on Sunday is Nelson who early in his career looked a sharp prospect winning dual Group 3s, since then he has shown he is not a Group 1 horse and looks likely to be the pacesetter for the other O'Brien runners.
Number 18 - Magical - 40/1
Trainer - Aidan O'Brien
Jockey - Wayne Lordan
Group 1s - None
The last of the Irish raiders from Ballydoyle is Magical that may find that the step up to 1 mile 4 furlongs may suit her better. She is getting a fillies and three year old allowance and see's her low in the weights and it wouldn't be a shock to see her sneak a place in this one, You can never rule out Aidan O'Brien
Number 19 - Sea Of Class - 7/2
Trainer - William Haggas
Jockey - James Doyle
Group 1s - Irish oaks, Yorkshire Oaks
This young filly is the closest horse that will come to Enable and might even beat her. The daughter of Sea The Stars has had a fantastic season, improving at every stage in her career and taking two Group 1s in the process, going off a low weight and having a great turn of foot, she is Enable's one to worry about.
