Ascot Friday Preview - 21/12/2018

12:45 - Igor

The opening race from Ascot is the eventmasters.co.uk Maiden Hurdle, and the Nicky Henderson-trained Igor looks the most worthy candidate here.

Second to Moonlighter on debut here this time last month, who run as recently as yesterday at Newbury, and fell heavily when mounting a strong challenge under Lizzie Kelly.

Would of surely made the frame, and the form looks good for Igor, who certainly will play his part in this maiden here.

13:20 - Risk And Roll

Risk And Roll has always proved a tough horse to back, but we think he can get his head in front here in the Bet With Ascot Novices' Limited Handicap Chase.

His best form has come on heavy ground, and with rain forecast, it makes you wonder how long the description of soft will last.

Four runs since the new season began, and this looks his best chance of winning for the first time over fences, and the first time overall since April.

13:55 - Danny Kirwan

Mrs Johnny de la Hey could have more joy in the third contest - the Grade 2 Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle with Danny Kirwan.

This horse is highly thought of at home by Paul Nicholls, but failed to land a match-up on his hurdles debut at Kempton latest.

Smart horse on the flat, despite tailing off in the Aintree bumper, needs to fulfil his promise with a bold bid here.

14:30 - Vinndication

A fantastic field of four go for this year's Grade 2 Noel Novices' Chase, and the one they surely all have to beat is the unbeaten 5yo Vinndication.

Arguably the most inexperienced of the four in the field, Kim Bailey's gelding won on debut at Carlisle but looks mightily progressive, and really looks a colt going places.

An exciting prospect who has some outstanding hurdles form, including a win over 2019 Supreme fancy Champ here last season.

15:05 - Le Musee

Le Musee holds strong credentials for the Thames Materials Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle in the penultimate contest.

Similarly to the previous pick, Le Musee shares some notable form with Nicky Henderson's Champ, after the selection finished just four lengths off him at Newbury on the first of this month.

Nigel Hawke's 5yo gelding looks to be growing with experience, and a improved display is expected here.

15:40 - Eason

Eason can complete a good day for Paul Nicholls in the Listed St Andrews Holdings Championship Standard Open NH Flat Race.

A eye-catching performance on debut at Chepstow, but off since October, and has been readied for this contest.

This jockey get back aboard having enjoyed a smart start to the season, and big race success last week at Cheltenham.

The pair should prove much more reliable to make the frame, against many unknown quantities.
