Breeders' Cup Friday Preview - 06/11/20

The first selection from us on the Friday of the Breeders' Cup meeting comes in the Bryan Station Conditions Stakes over 1 mile 1 furlong and No Word looks the most likely winner of the race.

The Todd Pletcher trained runner has some stand out form heading into the event having placed in all five of his events this year, going on to win one of them.

He has been running between 8 and 10 furlongs on firm ground and getting his optimal trip and conditions on Friday, from a very handy draw makes him one to be respected.

One of the feature event of the evening is the Breeder' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint and Golden Pal for Wesley Ward is the pick of the bunch.

Golden Pal is a likeable sprinter for the yard having been unleashed to British viewers when finishing an extremely close second in the Group Two Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, just being beat by the Michael Bell trained The Lir Jet.

He was set for the Nunthorpe after that event but instead was kept in America where he has since gone on to land a Stakes contest in taking style and this Grade Two looks right up his street.

The Grade One Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf has seen some superb winners over the years and we believe we have found another one with the Ralph Beckett trained New Mandate.

The two year old will be ridden by Frankie Dettori, who has sat on him the last two times he has won and having improved for every run this year he has the progressive profile to land this event.

Having won on his third start at Sandown back in August, he then stepped up to Listed company in the Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster.

Again, he was upped in class tackling the Grade Two Royal Lodge Stakes over a mile and under a superb ride he landed the event, beating some likeable types.

This race is much tougher but he will revel in the quick conditions and looks the value in the race.

Princess Noor is our selection in the Grade One Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and this Bob Baffert trained two year old is looking to extend her unbeaten run to four races.

The filly has been an easy winner on all three of her starts to date, winning over 5.5 furlongs on debut and then stepping up in trip to 7.5 and 8 furlongs on her last two starts.

One her second event on dirt she landed the Group One Del Mar Debutante Stakes and backed that up in the Grade Two Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita.

Looks one of the bets of the meeting.

Wesley Ward has the chance to clean up with his runners on day one of the meeting as Campanelle has a huge chance in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf over a mile.

The two year old has been the shining light for the yard this season and the juvenile made her debut at Gulfstream on firm ground and went on to bolt up in a decent field and unlike previous seasons she was one of few Ward runners to get off the mark at the first time of asking.

She was then sent to Royal Ascot in the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes over five furlongs and beat a solid field of runners and the form has since been franked with second, third, fourth and fifth all running credible races since.

She aswell franked the form of that race when landing the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville on her last start, with her showing her versatility on heavy ground, beating another smart field.

Ward considered a return to Britain for last month’s Cheveley Park Stakes, but decided to wait for this event and has and she has a huge chance of extending her unbeaten run to four races if handling the step up in trip.

Our final selection of the evening comes in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Classier for leading trainer Bob Baffert looks overpriced in this Grade One.

The two year old has only been seen once to date making all to land an event over 6.5 furlongs at Santa Anita just two weeks ago.

Baffert is known for his horses getting better after the first run and off the back of her pedigree it looks as though the step up to a mile is sure to suit.

She was an expensive purchase of $775,000 and the colt can show his class in his first try in this company.
