Curragh Friday Preview - 09/08/19

17:15 - Paradiso and Sinawann

The first race of the day is a big fielded maiden over seven furlongs and with 19 runners set to go to post we have two selections with there being some superb potential talent on show.

The first is a newcomer for Aidan O'Brien who might not look like the first choice in the race due to the jockey booking but being a full brother to champion juvenile and dual Guineas winner Churchill, he has to be of some interest.

The other runner we like the look of at a big price and suggested as an each way shout is Michael Halford trained Sinawann who is out of Kingman and he looks very nicely bred.

18:15 - Heavan Of Heavens

Another big fielded race at the Curragh and another horse on debut we like the look of is Heavan Of Heavens and this two year old filly looks a sharp prospect.

The juvenile holds a very progressive pedigree being out of Galileo and Halfway To Heaven and this means she is a full siter to the superb Magical who is third in the Cartier Horse Of The Year standings.

She is also a full sister to Rhododendron who won the Lockinge Stakes and the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera in France. She holds a strong family line and has to be taken seriously on debut.

18:50 - Siskin

The feature race of the day is the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes over six furlongs and we have sided with the unbeaten Siskin in this five runner event.

She is the favourite for this and rightfully so, the Ger Lyons trained Siskin who is one of the best colts over six furlongs in Ireland being unbeaten on all three starts today.

The Prince Khalid Abdullah owned two-year-old Siskin puts his unbeaten record on the line for the fourth time in his first Group One contest, having won a Group 2 and a Listed race over course and distance.

He could really be something special if continuing his fine progression and he should flourish in this small field already beating the main threat last timeout.

19:25 - Servalan

The Phoenix Sprint Stakes sees a decent field of runners go to post and in this Group 3 we have stuck with the Jessica Harrington trained Servalan.

This filly heads into the contest in the form of her career finishing second on her seasonal debut in a big fielded event at Cork and came on for that run next time out.

She got off the mark at Naas, getting up late in the day to take a Listed event and although stepping up in class today has a big chance.

20:00 - Powersville

Another race at the Curragh on Friday that sees plenty of horses go to post and Powersville for trainer Thomas Mullins catches the eye.

This filly has been in some serious form of late winning two of her last three runs and finishing second in the the other one and although up in the weights looks progressive.

The rain has started to come in Ireland and this will suit Powersville more than most of the horses in the field which makes her appealing.

20:35 - Great Grey

The final race of the day is a Handicap over a mile Great Grey for trainer Luke Comer looks the form choice in this contest off the back of his two runs this season.

He finished seventh in a big handicap at Navan on his seasonal debut that he came on for massively at Limerick last time out finishing second.

The form of that race has been franked with third place that day winning next time out and he is an interesting contender with English and Irish winning derby jockey on board.
