Happy Valley Wednesday Preview

The first on the card at Happy Valley that we like the look of is Good Days I and leading rider Zac Purton gets the mount which is always a bonus.

The six year old gelding has been without a win since June 2019 but recently has been knocking on the door at Sha Tin and can use that form to go well here.

Two starts ago he finished a decent second at Sha Tin over 1 mile 2f and when dropped slightly in trip he finished in the same position.

Now stepping up in trip it should bring even more improvement out of him.

Joao Moreira is back in the saddle at Happy Valley last week after sitting out last Wednesday due to a small ban for careless riding.

He sits on Victorious Seeker in the second contest of the day and we believe he can get off the mark in good style with this very consistent gelding.

The four year old has not finished out side of the top three in his last five races and although not going on to win races he has been knocking on the door in similar contests.

He should go close again.

Karis Teetan is a highly accomplished jockey round Happy Valley and he sits on Focus in this event over a mile and after getting off the mark nicely last time out we believe the gelding can back that up.

The four year old won for the first time this season and before that had been hit and miss, but when being stepped up to this trip it looked to make all the difference.

Only going up five pounds and being tried again at the same distance makes him very dangerous again and also with a decent draw he should be allowed the run of the things.

We are looking for a quick-fire double for Teetan in this contest as our selection Super Alliances is another of his mounts on the card.

The three year old on his day looks a real talent but having been hit and miss in the past he has been hard to punt on, but we believe Wednesday could be his day.

He was a bright second last time out over course and distance and having only gone up two pounds for that run makes him one to watch again.

Back to back sprint contests at Happy Valley and in this one we have favoured with the low weighted Victory Mastery who has Moreira back on board.

He has been very underwhelming in his career to date but has shown glimpses that he could have winning potential in him when finishing third two starts ago.

He was also second four starts back over course and distance off a similar mark and if running to that form has another each way chance.

Flash Famous goes for us in the Class 3 event and he poses as one of our best chances of a winner in the day having shown some superb form over course and distance recently.

The five year old has had three runs this year all coming over 8.5 furlongs at this track and he has shown form figures of 112 and overall has four wins over course and distance.

He has risen through the weights, first winning off a mark of 56 and now goes off an official rating of 70 and we believe he has the ability to still be improving and can win off this weight.

Another six furlong event that sees us turn back to the skills of Australian jockey Zac Purton who takes over on Diamond Brilliant from Joao Moreira.

The gelding has been knocking on door on his last three runs with narrow place finishes, just not being able to get his neck in front.

with two seconds and a third in his last three runs the five year old has only gone up three pounds which still gives him a live chance in the weights and he has a favourable draw.

The penultimate selection of the afternoon at Happy Valley sees us go for Surrealism and hopefully it rounds off a superb afternoon for jockey Karis Teetan.

Although this five year old has been tough to back in Hong Kong having no win in his last 12 he has shown plenty of ability.

He has raced four times this year only coming outside the placings once and finishing second two starts ago and going off one pound higher today gives him a clear chance to get off the mark.

The final event of the day in Hong Kong sees another sprint event and Zac Purton has become a master in these events and we are sticking with him.

He sits on Shouson who has won three of his last six starts and although going up 25 pounds in the process he should still make his presence felt.

The gelding knows how to win around this tricky track and not having the worst draw in the world should make him hard to back against.
