Haydock Saturday Preview - 29/09/2018

13:30

13:30 Haydock - Chartered

The first of seven races at Haydock Park is the Smarkets British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes and CHARTERED can build on from her debut at Newmarket last time out.

Trained by Ralph Beckett this two year old was not beaten too far on her debut, and shaped as though a 1m will suit in the future.

This daughter of Frankel faces some inexperienced fillies, and could progress forward. Harry Bentley aboard for a top yard.

14:05

14:05 Haydock - Aquarium 11/2

Next up is the Smarkets Betting Exchange Handicap and AQUARIUM can push on from a good third at Newbury on Saturday.

A typical tough Johnston horse, he was beaten under a length by Buzz six days ago – who has won 3 of his last 4 races.

Johnston and Fanning are in good form at the moment but this three year old will need to give a career best to be in the frame today but does have solid claims here.

14:40

14:40 HAYDOCK - Cap Francais

Despite carrying a penalty, Ed Walker’s CAP FRANCAIS should surely prove too good for many of these in this Smarkets British EBF Novice Stakes over 1 mile.

He was an easy winner at Salisbury two weeks ago and was second before that on debut showing clear promise in both runs that this two year old could be special.

This son of Frankel would prefer the ground to dry but it shouldn't be a major issue if it does stay good to soft. His class should shine through on Saturday.

15:15

15:15 Haydock - Tarboosh 13/2

TARBOOSH returns to handicap action following a hat-trick of wins in conditions races but this Class 2 handicap affair over 5 furlongs will be a better test for him.

He has scored at Newmarket, Hamilton and Nottingham this summer, but has only beaten a combination of ten rivals, whereas he will meet sixteen in this field alone.

Upped in class, he will surely be there or there abouts come the finish if taking to this stiffer test but he will need to be progressive in this large field. The gamble is on.

15:50

15:50 Haydock - Big Les

The fifth race of the day is the smarkets.com Handicap, and BIG LES who rallied on gamely to win at York recently, can improve once more to land the spoils again here.

This 3yo has some good form on Good to Soft and should go close again if being open to improvement like he has done in hos last few runs.

Only Karen McLintock’s seventh runner in the last two weeks, and Jamie Gormley takes off 3lbs with his claim which could be a game changer.

16:25

16:25 Haydock - Surya

SuryaIt is hard to fancy many of these with several bang out of form and running poorly, so SURYA should take all the beating for a top yard at John Gosden’s.

Looks a progressive type and is superbly bred – out of Sariska by Frankel. Bidding for a hat trick of wins, his latest was over this C&D in July.

Same jockey aboard today, he knows the horse well, and could prove too good in this division.

17:00

17:00 Haydock Past Master

The final race of the day is the Bet On The Premier League with Smarkets Handicap and after a careful consideration, have chosen to side with PAST MASTER from Henry Candy’s yard.

Lightly raced front-runner who is very much on the upward curve, and has won two of his last three starts.

The other one who caught the eye in this nine-runner race was Sky Eagle, who has been in very good form at 1m4-6f recently and with the step-up to 2m not working out last time, is dropped back in distance. Past Master is the selection, and it could be a very good day for Harry Bentley.
