The first selection of the day from us in Paris comes in the Group Two Prix Chaudenay over 1m7f and Manobo for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin has been heavily backed for this event.

The son of Sea The Stars has been seen three times to date, making his debut in May at Newbury and seeing off Derby and St Leger second Mojo Star.

Off the back of that he was upped to 12f at Kempton and again was an impressive winner, coming away from the field to take the event by close to five lengths.

Last time out when seeking a hat-trick the gelding gave the performance of his season when bounding clear by 10 lengths in a Listed event at Saint-Cloud.

There are horses that have done more in better races, but this gelding holds bundles of potential and will certainly get this extended trip.

The Group Two Prix Daniel Wildenstein has seen some superb winners in the past and this field looks set to produce another one.

The horse we are siding with is the very trustworthy The Revenant, who has made the mile division his own in France over the last few years and with his beloved soft ground coming, he looks tough to beat.

A Highly consistent animal, The Revenant has raced 15 times during his career, only finishing outside the top three on one occasion and overall amounting 10 wins to his name.

The son of Dubawi has landed the last two renewals of this race and inbetween that has gone on to finish second and first in the last two QEII Stakes at Ascot on British Champions Day.

This season he has been seen twice to date at Saint-Cloud over a mile but they have both looked like prep runs for this event.

He seems to come into his own around September/October time with most of wins coming in these months and being one of the very few horses to beat the star miler Palace Pier, he will take all the beating if on song.

Consistent.

One of the feature events on the Saturday card in France is the Group One Prix Du Cadran and Trueshan for Alan King looks primed to go close.

The winner of last season’s British Champions’ Long Distance Cup at the end of the campaign firmly put Trueshan in the mix for a go at the staying races this season.

His dominant display over two miles on soft ground at Ascot in October saw him go off second favourite for the Ormonde Stakes at Chester but found the trip and course too taxing for speed to get the better of Japan.

Missing the gold cup due to the underfoot conditions, he instead tried to shoulder top weight in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, but a rating of 118 left him giving away too much weight to the rest of the field.

Since then he has waited for his perfect conditions and got that in the Group Two Goodwood Cup where he went on to rout a good field of stayers by close to four lengths.

Skipping the Doncaster Cup he heads into this Group One fresh and getting his ideal trip and ground and this season when getting that he has looked unstoppable.

The penultimate event on the Longchamp card sees the Group One Prix de Royallieu for Fillies' And Mares over 1m6f and the Andre Fabre trained.

The three year old has been seen four times to date, making her debut at Deauville in December when getting off the mark over 9.5f.

Saved for this season's campaign she was second on debut over 1m2f and was then upped in trip to 1m4f in a Listed event at Clairefontaine and was a very impressive winner.

She backed that up last time out when a close second in Group Two company behind Arc contender Raabihah and her pedigree suggests the extra two furlong will bring more improvement.

The final event of the afternoon is the Group Two Prix Dollar and horse that has been thriving of late in France is the William Haggas trained Dubai Honour.

The three year old gelding was a fair juvenile, but this term has changed into a fine racehorse, winning two of his three events.

He started the season off over a mile in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot and finished a close up fourth of 29 runners on quick ground.

Stepped up to 10f after that he got off the mark for the season when taking the bet365 Handicap in gritty fashion.

With soft conditions being his preferred ground, he went to France for the Group Two Prix Guillaume d'Ornano last time out and revelling in both the trip and the ground he took the event in fine style.

Being a very progressive gelding this term he is sure to improve once more and with everything in his favour it is hard to look past him.
