We kick off with a competitive handicap over 1m4f on the Friday featuring seven well-bred unexposed stayers.

For us, Charlie Appleby's Spectrum Of Light looks the most interesting at the prices as he gets plenty of weight from most of his rivals and he has always shaped as though this trip would be his optimum.

As a son of Golden Horn, staying trips as a 3-y-o was always going to be the start of his progress and a mark of 80 is unlikely to be his limit.

Coventry Stakes third Saeiqa is a Group entrant who sets a high standard in this maiden, but the presence of Magical Land makes this no ordinary event and we prefer to side with him at the prices.

By Frankel, out of Godolphin Shamardal filly Mistrusting, this colt made a very eye-catching debut here at the start of last month whilst showing signs of greenness.

He will have learnt plenty from that effort and the form has stacked up in-behind him.

Market leader Dandalla will be popular with punters after her Royal Ascot success but there is a form line to suggest there isn't much between herself and Time Scale and we believe the latter is the one to go on improving.

This Charm Spirit filly hasn't looked back since her debut at Newmarket at the start of June winning both subsequent races with ease.

The form of her latest victory looks quite solid and Oisin Murphy rides for an in-form yard.

Ghostwatch

Ghostwatch has plenty to prove following a lacklustre display off the back of a big absence here last month but at 11/1 he looks worth a small each-way bet.

This 2.1m purchase was progressing nicely before suffering a set-back and some of his form has proved to be rock solid. He finished third to Roaring Lion on debut and his last victory was a win over Mekong, who has since reached 112 in Group events.

There are obvious risks attached but you can get five places each-way and the trainer/jockey combo won the race in 2018.

Mark Johnston dominates this race (won 5 of the last 7) but his main charge Outwrite looks to be held on his form with Enemy at Royal Ascot.

This half-brother to Magic Wand has always shaped as though he would improve for this sort of trip and the form of this year's Britannia looks rock solid with the winner looking a pattern class horse.

Oisin Murphy rides.

Boudot comes over from France for two rides with his best chance looking to be One Master for the red-hot William Haggas.

The Frenchman has already won twice on this mare and the forecasted rain is sure to enhance her chances.

She is fit from a recent run in the Diamond Jubillee, but she doesn't look quick enough for 6f nowadays and may well improve stepping up to a mile.
