Just seven line up for the opening contest in Paris on Sunday with Charlie Appleby’s New Science being our selection.

This son of Lope De Vega was an impressive winner on debut at Yarmouth where he beat numerous subsequent winners in a comfortable fashion and connections then deemed him to be good enough to contest the Chesham.

Things didn’t go to plan at Ascot with the ground turning up soft but he quickly bounced back when landing the Pat Eddery Stakes on better ground a month later and the second that day subsequently landed the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

Overall this colt boasts a solid profile notching up some useful form on good ground and horses from this yard have an excellent strike rate when sent over to France.

Our next selection at Longchamp comes in the Group3 Prix Du Prince D'orange, where Aga Khan’s Saiydabad is taking a significant drop in grade having contested the Group1 Prix De Paris here last time out.

The son of Blame ran well without threatening that day but it is his fourth in the Prix Du Jockey Club which catches the eye. He finished just 3l behind St. Marks Basillica that day and if running to or near that level of form here he should take the world of beating.

He is the top rated however the forecast suggests he may be overlooked in the market.

The feature race on the card is the Prix Moulin where Baaeed looks to stamp his authority on the 1m scene by notching up his first Group1 victory.

It is disappointing he won’t face Poetic Flare however at 8/15 he is plenty short and we are willing to oppose with Snow Lantern, who currently has the best form in the book and she is advertised at a healthy 9/2, which allows you to bet each-way with the 1/4 of the odds terms.

The market leader will take the world of beating however this filly’s victory in the Falmouth couldn’t have worked out any better with Mother Earth, Alcohol Free and Lady Bowthorpe all winning Group1 races next time out and he received what was a questionable ride when third in the Sussex Stakes.
