Jeremy Scott’s Hey Bud is one that will relish this drying ground and after just three starts over fences he still has plenty of scope for improvement.

The 7-y-o gelding was a 13l winner at this track on on a similar surface and his most recent chase start at Stratford was very encouraging.

He travelled up smoothly before finishing well and the form doesn’t look too bad with first and sixth both running with credit next time out.

Paul Nicholls has an exceptional record in this race, winning it four times in the previous six seasons, and he looks to have strong claims of another victory with Flix Ou Voyou.

This gelding has to concede 4lb to a fair rival in Lord Baddesley, but he was third behind Edwardstone and Fiddlerontheroof in this last season and that rates a red hot renewal.

He is seeking a hat-trick for the season and should prove hard to beat for the in-form stable.

Sunrise Ruby is a worthy favourite having landed back-to-back good ground hurdle races already this season, but with the other market principals having questions to answer, we are happy to take a risk on last year’s winner Misty Bloom.

Emma Lavelle’s mare is a double figure price having been out of form since that victory, but she has subsequently slipped back down to the handicap and she gets her ground here.

Ga Law has bounced on the scene with two impressive victories over fences and he is still open to any amount of improvement, but a rival like Grand Sancy is likely to prove too much as this stage of his career.

This 6-y-o was thrown into top class graded chases last season, where he ran with credit without fulfilling his potential, and he rates the type to excel as a second season chaser.

He jumped with more fluency when hammering his rivals on return at Chepstow and it looks as though he will again get his preferred ground here, which is something we was unable to say in 2019.

The likely furious pace on offer looks ready made for Sceau Royal here, who looks to add to his owners’ success in the race with Fusil Raffles last season.

Solo, Brandon Castle and Master Debonair are all forward going types so Daryl Jacob should sit off the pace on this strong travelling type and take it up late in the day.

He relishes conditions (9 wins, 4 places from 16 attempts).

Another race dominated by Paul Nicholls, the Silver Trophy market is headed by Danny Whizzbang and Present Man, however it is his apparent third string My Way which catches the eye.

This 6-y-o is still open to any amount of improvement and he should gain confidence from his breakthrough success over hurdles on return; which will have put him spot on for this.

He gets bundles of weight off 126 with a 5lb claimer booked, making him a nice e/w option with 5 places on offer.

We wouldn’t advise a strong bet on these bumper races however Paul Nicholls and owner Mr Colm Donlon are seeking a hat-trick in the race, therefore 65k purchase Silent Revolution has to be given a chance.

The yard are in red hot form and have already managed bumper winners.
